A Walk in the Park By M.C. George finds out that his girlfriend has certain "unusual" qualities Dr. Millie Jones looked down at her 16 year old daughter and wondered if this, was the right thing to do. Since birth,Susie had been a frail, weak child and wasn't expected to live long. A few months ago, she had become very ill with a strange virus and was now hovering near death. Millie, a brilliant research scientist, began working on a special vaccine that might cure her daughter;but the vaccine had never been tested. Now, there was no time to test the drug; if she delayed any longer it would be too late for Susie. Taking the hypodermic needle in her hand, Dr. Jones injected the new serum into her dying daughter's arm and prayed. Within a day, there was a marked improvement in Susie's condition. After a week, she was completely healed. Her vaccine had saved Susie's life. But what she didn't know - what she never could have imagined - was the 'unusual' side affects her miracle drug would have on her daughter. Two Years Later Susie stood in front of the mirror brushing her pretty blond hair. She wanted to look her best because George, the boy who lived across the street - the boy she'd had a crush on since she was eleven years old - had asked her out.It wasn't anything special - just a walk to the park nearby - but Susie was excited nonetheless; it was, after all, her first date. Since her recovery from a near fatal illness two years earlier, she hadn't been out much, only to school and straight back home. When George came over and asked her out, Susie's mother was very reluctant to allow her to accept. It was only after a long and heated argument that her mother relented and agreed to Susie's request...with reservations. She had to acknowledge that Susie was, despite her special 'qualities', a normal 18 year old girl; with normal 18 year old desires. So, what was a mother to do ? " You can go out with him, but not in a public place; we're not ready for that yet. Maybe a walk in the park for now; I don't see how anything can happen there... " Meanwhile, in a different part of the city... Dr. Richard Brandon, the famous Paleontologist, stared admiringly at the specimen. It was something that would shock the entire world...a real life, full sized, living Tyrannosaurs Rex - the largest, most ferocious creature ever to have walked the face of the earth. " This will be my legacy," he said to himself. " I have brought the first living dinosaur to display for all to see." For years he had tracked down legends, hoping against hope to find the one thing he wanted to discover most of all...a living dinosaur. Finally, after years of searching, he found one; on an uncharted island off the coast of East Africa. Now, before an unsuspecting world, he would unveil his "find" and reap the rewards; it was his moment of triumph. But, as the crane lowered the huge cage from the flatbed truck, the chain buckled under that strain of the massive weight and gave way. The cage fell to the ground and broke open.Pandemonium ensued as people began to scream and run. The Tyrannosaurs Rex was free; free to spread terror and wreck havoc throughout the entire city. George and Susie walked hand in hand through the park. It was the first time in her life anybody outside of her mother had shown Susie any special attention. He was on the high school football team and his large six foot three inch 220 pound frame dwarfed her five foot two inch 120 one. As they came to a clearing they heard strange sounds off in the distance, sounds of screaming and panic...followed by what sounded like a very loud " ROAR " that seemed to be getting closer and closer. " I wonder what that could be," Susie said quietly. George was equally stumped and simply shrugged his shoulders. They didn't have to wait long before they received an answer to their question. For suddenly there appeared, on the opposite side of the clearing, a huge, ferocious Tyrannosaurs Rex...and it was quickly bearing down on them. " Susie, run as fast as you can for the trees," George screamed," I'll try and draw his attention away from you." " Oh there's no need for that George," Susie replied with a calmness that stunned him. " But thank you anyway, you're so sweet." As George stared, dumbfounded, Susie calmly removed her sweater and handed it to him; revealing her surprisingly powerful muscles. "Please hold this for me," she said and smiled," this shouldn't take too long." Before George could even move, Susie passed by him and walked towards the fast approaching dinosaur." Stay there honey where you'll be safe," she winked over her shoulder. George couldn't believe his eyes as Susie, all 120 pounds of her, prepared to confront seven tons of carnivorous terror. "Well now big boy, you shouldn't be running around frightening people, it's bad manners," Susie said as the huge Tyrannosaurs opened it's powerful jaws and prepared to grind the 18 year old girl to shreds. His gigantic mouth seemed to engulf the poor helpless girl, but when he tried to close it, a strange thing happened; he couldn't. Susie held his mouth open with her small, but amazingly strong hands. The creature tried with all his might but simply could not close his jaws. " Awww, what's the matter tough guy, is a little girl too strong for you?" Susie said and giggled. "My, my what nice big teeth you have there, it's a shame I'm going to have to knock a few out to teach you a lesson." With that, Susie reared back and smashed a hard right cross into the jaw of the T. Rex, snapping his head back and sending several of his teeth flying. Enraged, he attacked her again with more ferocity than before. But Susie calmly laughed and punched him again, costing him several more teeth. People who study dinosaurs will tell you that they weren't very intelligent creatures, but it didn't take this one very long to figure out that he had met his match. He turned around and began to run away...but be didn't get far." Leaving so soon? Why I wouldn't hear of it," Susie teased as she ran after the fleeing dinosaur. She caught him by the tail and held him in place. He tried as hard as he could to escape, but he couldn't move...a seven ton dinosaur held in place by a 18 year old girl. " I'm afraid I can't have you running around here creating havoc and frightening people," she said. Still holding him by the tail, Susie turned around and, in an incredible display of her strength, hurled the huge creature 180 degrees, sending him crashing to the ground. The whole area shook like an earthquake." Gee, that was fun, let's do it again, shall we?" Susie giggled. Again she hurled the helpless creature 180 degrees in the other direction and smashed him into the ground. His ferocious "Roars" were now reduced to pathetic screeches as Susie smashed him to the ground several more times. She looked over at George who stood there in shock,"not bad for a little girl, eh ?" she laughed. By now the once invincible Tyrannosaurs Rex lay battered and beaten on it's back, it was barely conscious."And now for the grand finale," Susie said. She took a short run, leaped high into the air, completed three summersaults before landing on the underside of the dinosaur's neck. " Punch," she said as her fist made contact with his badly bruised jaw. It was the final blow that sent the mighty "King of the dinosaurs " down for the count. An eerie silence came over the park. Susie smiled at George, comely reached into her back pocket, took out her hairbrush. She began to brush her pretty hair. George approached her with his mouth wide open. " What's the matter sweetie pie? Never seen a girl beat up a dinosaur before?" Susie giggled. After she finished her hair, Susie slid off the battered creature's neck and into George's arms. She gave him a long passionate kiss. Off in the distance they heard sirens approaching. "Come honey," Susie said as she took her shell-shocked boyfriend by the hand. " I'd rather not be here when they arrive. I don't think they're ready for me yet." Hand in hand, Susie and George left the park. The next day all the newscasts and newspapers were fill with stories about the Tyrannosaurs Rex that was found - battered to a pulp - in the park. All the experts could not explain how the largest, fiercest creature ever to walked the earth could have been beaten up so badly; there simply was no explanation. The battered dinosaur was taken to a special area of the zoo where, when he recovered from Susie's beating, would be displayed before the public. Two weeks later Susie smiled as George picked her up in his car. He was taking her to the brand new exhibit that just opened up at the zoo. Ever since the 'incident' at the park, Susie's mother had softened her stand against Susie going out in public; just as long as it was with George who now knew her secret. They approached the large cage and looked inside. In front of them stood the huge 20 foot tall, seven ton Tyrannosaurs Rex. Susie leaned over the railing and said, " hello there lover boy, remember me? " The monstrous creature looked at Susie for a few seconds and then suddenly turned white. He screeched loudly and ran to other side of the cage, desperately trying to escape. Finally, failing that, he cowered in the far corner, shaking uncontrollably. Susie giggled and said," I guess has a good memory." Then, taking George by the hand she said, " Let's go see the monkeys...I like monkeys, they're so cute."
